Working with us

  • Can we start with one service and add others later?

That is how most clients begin: usually a website, then hosting and mail, then the rest as it becomes obvious. Nothing here requires you to buy the whole list.

  • Do you work with businesses outside Johannesburg?

Yes. Everything except hands-on hardware work is done remotely, and we have clients across South Africa. On-site work in greater Johannesburg is included in IT management; elsewhere it is quoted separately.

  • What is the smallest project you will take?

A one-page site, a domain and mail set up properly is a real project and we are happy to do it. Below about R5 000 we will usually point you at something you can do yourself and tell you how.

  • Do you charge for the first meeting?

No. The scope call is an hour, free, and you leave with our honest read on what you need, including when that is less than you asked for.

  • Can you take over work another supplier started?

Usually, after a paid audit. It is a fixed-price week that tells both of us what is really in there, and you own the report whether or not you continue with us.

  • How do you price work?

Project work is one fixed figure against a written scope: half on acceptance, half on launch. Monthly services are billed in advance and cancellable on thirty days' notice. Third-party costs pass through at what they cost us.

  • Who owns what you build for us?

You do. The domain is registered in your name, the accounts are in your name, and the code and design files are handed over at launch. We keep nothing hostage, because clients who stay should stay for the work.

  • What happens if something breaks after launch?

Every project includes thirty days of fixes at no charge. After that, anything we host is monitored and patched under its hosting fee, and a care plan adds a set number of change hours each month.

Web design & development

About this service
  • How long does a website take?

A focused marketing site is four to six weeks from scope to launch. Anything with accounts, payments or a lot of content runs eight to twelve.

  • Do I own the code?

Yes. The repository is transferred to you at launch and the site runs on standard, open technology. Nothing is locked to us.

  • Can you work with our existing brand?

Usually. If the brand has no usable assets we will say so early and quote the identity work separately, rather than quietly redesigning it.

App development

About this service
  • Web app or mobile app?

If it needs the camera, offline use, push notifications or a store presence to be taken seriously, it is a mobile app. Otherwise a web app reaches every device at a fraction of the cost.

  • What does it cost to run?

A small app is typically R500 to R2 000 a month in hosting and database, billed at cost. We show you the numbers before you commit, not after.

  • Can you take over an existing app?

Often. We start with a paid audit, a week at a fixed price, so both sides know what is really in there before anyone signs a maintenance agreement.

Graphic design & branding

About this service
  • Do we own the logo?

Yes, in full, on final payment, including the working files. Type licences are bought in your name and transfer with the brand.

  • Can you refresh what we have rather than start over?

Often that is the better answer, and it is cheaper. We will say honestly which of the two your brand needs.

  • Do you do print production?

We supply print-ready artwork and will liaise with your printer on stock and finish, but we do not mark up printing.

Web hosting

About this service
  • What happens if the site goes down?

We are alerted before you are. Our commitment on managed plans is a response within one business hour, and out of hours for anything transacting.

  • Can we host somewhere else?

Yes. Everything we build runs on standard hosting, and we will hand over a working deployment to whoever you choose.

  • Is email included?

No, and deliberately. Mail belongs on a mail platform (see business email and Microsoft 365), not on the same box as the website.

Domain registration

About this service
  • Who owns the domain?

You do, without exception. We will not register a client domain in our own name, and we will help you move it out on request without argument.

  • Can you rescue an expired domain?

Sometimes. Both .co.za and .com have redemption periods, at a cost. Phone us the day you notice, not the week after.

  • Do you sell privacy protection?

Where the registry supports it, at cost. On .co.za the registrant details are public by design and no add-on changes that.

Business email

About this service
  • Microsoft or Google?

If your team lives in Excel and Teams, Microsoft. If it lives in a browser, Google. We will recommend one and are happy to run either.

  • Will we lose old email?

No. Migration copies rather than moves, and the old mailbox stays reachable until you are satisfied.

  • Why is our mail going to spam?

Almost always missing or wrong SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. It is the first thing we check, and usually a same-day fix.

Microsoft 365

About this service
  • Which licence do we need?

Business Standard for most, Business Premium where you need device management and better security tooling. We size it against your headcount rather than up.

  • Can you move us off a shared drive?

Yes, that is a common project. Files, structure and permissions move to SharePoint, with a mapped drive left in place while people adjust.

  • Do you resell licences?

We can, or you can buy direct and add us as a partner. Either way you see the same price we do.

Cloud infrastructure

About this service
  • AWS or Azure?

Azure if you are already invested in Microsoft 365 and identity; AWS for most standalone applications. We run both and have no incentive either way.

  • Do we need the cloud at all?

Not always. For a small marketing site, managed hosting is cheaper and simpler, and we will say so rather than sell the bigger thing.

  • Who holds the account?

You do. We work inside your organisation with our own named administrator accounts, which you can revoke at any time.

IT management & support

About this service
  • Is hardware included?

No. Hardware is quoted separately at cost plus a handling fee, so you can see what the machine actually costs.

  • What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00. After-hours cover for critical systems is available as an add-on rather than assumed.

  • Can you work alongside our IT person?

Yes, and that is often the right shape: they hold the business context, we hold the infrastructure and the escalation.

Care & maintenance

About this service
  • Do you only maintain sites you built?

No, but we start with a paid audit for sites we did not build, so nobody signs a monthly agreement over an unknown.

  • What if I need more than two hours?

Additional work is billed at an hourly rate quoted up front, and we tell you before we start rather than after.

  • Can I cancel?

Monthly, with thirty days' notice. Everything stays yours, and we hand over the deployment.
